When The Water Pouring From Her Eyes Weighed More Than The Water Pouring From The Clouds

He promised to be a good man
But he made her cry
He wanted to be a righteous man
But he made her cry.

He told her he wouldn’t let her down
That he would be that shoulder she needed
But he made her cry

He vowed he’d cheer her up
When her day wasn’t that grand
But he was the one who made her cry

He promised to be a just man
But he made her cry
He vowed to  be a decent man
But he made her cry.

He said that he would listen
Whenever she was troubled
And couldn’t take no more

He told her he’d be there
Be that friend she needed
When the time came

He would fight off her demons
And defend her honor
Fighting off those howling hounds

He would be that shield
And take the brunt of the attack
Shelter her as the arrows came down

She thought she knew him
And that he’d take care of her
That he’d never make her cry

He promised he’d be a good man
But he made her cry
He vowed he’d be a righteous man
But he made her cry
Made her cry..

He shouldn’t have made her cry…

I read this a few weeks ago and it really touched me.
